Maurita Coley

Executive Director

Maurita K. Coley joined CAAB as its Executive Director in March, 2010. Formerly a partner with the Cole, Raywid & Braverman and the Davis Wright Tremaine law firms, Coley has been a principal in her own firm, Coley Law & Media, PLLC, and she has held in-house counsel and operations executive positions for BET Holdings, Inc. Coley has taught financial education in her community and co-authored the Washington Women’s Investment Club’s “How to Start an Investment Club,” a handbook designed to guide people on group saving and investing. Coley serves on the board of the Daniel Alexander Payne CDC, a 501(c)(3) corporation affiliated with Metropolitan A.M.E. Church which administers a faith-based program for the ex-offender re-entry community. Coley attended Michigan State undergrad and Georgetown Law.

Emily Appel

Savings Program Director

Emily Appel is the Savings Program Director at CAAB. She manages day-to-day operations of CAAB's Individual Development Account (IDA) savings programs and multiple partnerships to ensure compliance with grant requirements and the delivery of high-quality financial programs. Prior to joining CAAB, Emily worked to promote asset building and entrepreneurship at CFED, and has interned at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, where she assisted efforts by grassroots political, faith, and community organizations to prevent teen pregnancy.

Roger Caruth

DC EITC Campaign Coordinator

Roger Caruth is the DC Earned Income Tax Credit (DC EITC) Campaign Coordinator at CAAB. He manages this citywide initiative to educate low-income residents about tax benefits, sponsor free tax preparation services, and provide opportunities for low-income filers to increase their income and savings throughout the year. Prior to joining CAAB, Roger worked as an ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking) Instructional Technology Manager in New York. ATTAIN is a statewide technology initiative that provides under-served and under-educated urban and rural community residents with academic, vocational, life skills and workplace readiness training through the use of state-of-the-art technology.

Tracy Lucas

Office Administrator

Tracy Lucas is the Office Administrator at CAAB. She is responsible for maintaining day-to-day operations at the CAAB office. She has worked for several educational and children’s nonprofits in the Washington, DC area and will be completing her degree in English at the University of Maryland, University College in Fall of 2010. She is also a volunteer in the Spanish-speaking community.

Adam Perry

Program Associate

Adam Perry is a Program Associate at CAAB. Adam supports CAAB’s two citywide campaigns—DC Saves and the DC EITC Campaign. He coordinates volunteer recruitment and management for both campaigns, and publishes the monthly DC Saver Update newsletter. Adam grew up in the DC area and is a graduate of Brown University, where he studied economic development and social entrepreneurship. He has interned for a number of nonprofit organizations in the past, including an international development organization in Kenya and a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that creates job opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.

Miriam Savad

Savings Program Associate

Miriam Savad is the Savings Program Associate at CAAB. She assists with the day-to-day operations of CAAB’s matched savings programs and supports CAAB's policy work. Prior to joining CAAB, Miriam most recently advocated for workers’ rights as an AVODAH Fellow at the DC Employment Justice Center.

Linda Stroman

Financial Education Coordinator

Linda Stroman is the Financial Education Coordinator at CAAB. She provides instruction and one-on-one counseling to groups and individuals on money management and credit education. In addition, she coordinates program seminars and other events regarding CAAB's financial programs. Before joining CAAB, Linda worked for The Training Source, Inc. She provided life, professional, financial, and technical training to Maryland and DC residents and organizations.

Devin Thompson

Director of Development

Devin Thompson is CAAB’s Director of Development. In this role he has primary responsibility for maximizing the generation of individual contributions and grants to support CAAB’s programs and operations. Prior to joining CAAB, Devin served as Grant Program Manager at RAINN and in the Princeton Family YMCA’s development office as a Program Specialist.
